Therapy Investment

Transparent fees. Flexible options. Thoughtful, specialized care.

When you commit to therapy, I commit to you.

Understanding your options

Navigating therapy fees and insurance benefits can feel confusing—especially when you’re already carrying a lot. You deserve clarity and transparency when it comes to investing in your mental health.

I work as an out-of-network and private self-pay provider, which allows me to offer flexible, personalized care without the limitations often required by insurance plans for in-network services. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement.

The two ways to invest in therapy:

Some clients prefer to keep insurance companies out of their mental health care decisions. Others like to take advantage of their benefits. Both are valid choices—you get to decide here:

  • A good option if you have OON benefits or are close to meeting your deductible—and would like to use your health insurance coverage.

    • You pay for sessions at the time of service

    • I provide a superbill for potential reimbursement

    • Complimentary claim submission is available or you can choose to self-submit

  • A good option if discretion and flexibility are important to you—your mental health care is deeply personal to you or you’re in a high responsibility role. You may also not meet criteria for a diagnosis, but desire preventive and supportive counseling.

    • You pay for sessions in full at the time of service

    • You can still receive a superbill, but you may choose not to submit it

    • You maintain your privacy and confidentiality

Why I choose to work out-of-network…

Choosing therapy is a meaningful investment—of your time, energy, and finances. I believe you deserve thoughtful, specialized care without unnecessary limitations. My goal is always to provide high-quality therapy that prioritizes your long-term growth.

Working as an out-of-network provider allows me to:

  • Offer flexible formats such as online, extended, intensive, and walk & talk sessions

  • Avoid restrictions on your session length, frequency or location

  • Maintain a smaller caseload so I can be fully present with you

  • Continue advanced trainings to deepen my expertise

Insurance-based care can require formal diagnoses and medical necessity reviews. For some clients, this means that aspects of their mental health treatment become part of their official insurance record, which may be reviewed in future coverage applications such as life insurance. Some clients are comfortable with that structure, while others prefer greater flexibility and discretion in their care.

The Payment Process

Payment is processed electronically in advance of your scheduled session, in accordance with the practice’s 48-business-hour cancellation policy. Accepted forms of payment include credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), HSA, FSA, and HRA cards, as well as cash for in-person sessions.

Let’s make reimbursement easy.

Many clients are surprised to learn they have out-of-network benefits. Submitting OON claims can feel overwhelming—that’s why I partner with Thrizer to offer complimentary claim submission. Once you have met your OON deductible, you may only be responsible for your co-pay.

Checking your OON coverage takes just a few minutes:

confirming your out-of-network benefits

If you’d like to contact your insurance provider for more details about your OON benefits, here are some helpful questions to ask:

  1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  2. What is my deductible, and has it been met?

  3. What percentage of the fee is reimbursed after my deductible has been met?

  4. Is there a session limit per year?

  5. Do I need pre-authorization?

  6. Which CPT codes are eligible for reimbursement? Commonly used codes are 90791, 90834, and 90837.

  7. Are online, outdoor walking, and Intensive sessions covered?

  8. How do I submit superbills?

Good Faith Estimate

A "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) is a document designed to provide transparency about the cost of your healthcare. Under the federal No Surprises Act, healthcare providers, including therapists, are required to provide a GFE to all uninsured or self-pay clients.

In simple terms, the GFE is an itemized forecast of the expected charges for your therapy services, based on the information known at the time the estimate is created. It helps you to budget for your care and prevents unexpected "surprise" bills.

The GFE includes a description of the services you are expected to receive (e.g., individual therapy sessions), the service codes, the expected cost per session, the anticipated frequency and duration of treatment, and the potential total cost for that period.

For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate and the dispute process, visit the CMS No Surprises Act website or call 1-800-985-3059.

You will receive a written copy of your GFE before your first session, and an updated estimate will be provided if your treatment plan or costs change significantly.
